# How to Use GPS in Savvy Navvy (and What to Do If It’s Not Working)

Savvy Navvy uses your device’s GPS to show your real-time location with a green arrow on the chart — just like Google Maps — so you can always see where you are on the water.

### **📍 How to Centre the Map on Your Location**

1. Tap the **black circle icon** (on the right-hand side of the screen).
2. The view will centre on your **current GPS location** and the icon will disappear.
3. The black circle icon will disappear while your position stays centred.

💡 **Tip:** If you want to start recording your movement, tap **Start** after centring the map. This begins **Nav Mode**, which records your track for later review.


### **❗ If GPS Isn’t Working or the Map Doesn’t Centre**

If tapping the icon doesn’t do anything, your device’s **location permissions** may be disabled, preventing Savvy Navvy from accessing your location.


###### On iOS

1. Go to **Settings**
2. Tap **Privacy & Security > Location Services**
3. Select **Savvy Navvy**
4. Set **Allow Location Access** to **While Using the App**


###### On Android

1. Long press the **Savvy Navvy app icon** and tap **App info*** (or go to **Settings > Apps & Notifications**)*
2. Tap **Permissions > Location**
3. Set access to **Allow only while using the app**

💡 **Tip:** Location services must be enabled at the device level — adjusting settings in the app won’t be enough on its own.
