How to Customise Your Boat Settings in Savvy Navvy
Setting up your boat correctly is essential for getting accurate routing, weather, and tidal information tailored to your boat. Savvy Navvy allows you to customise a range of vessel, engine and unit settings so that the app reflects your real-world conditions.
You can update your vessel settings at any time by going to:
Main Menu → Boat Settings
Vessel
Vessel Type
Your selected vessel type will affect how routing and weather are calculated. Choose the type of vessel you use:
- Sailboat (monohull or catamaran)
- Motorboat
- Fishing boat
- Powerboat
- Jet ski / PWC
- Paddleboard or kayak
Vessel Specifications
These help tailor route safety and performance to your specific boat:
- Minimum Depth: The shallowest water your vessel can safely navigate (important for route warnings).
- Bridge Clearance: Maximum height your vessel can pass under.
- Waterline Length (LWL): Used in performance and speed calculations.
- Polars: For sailboats, input your boat’s polars including beat angle and speed adjustment for more accurate sailing performance (monohulls and catamarans only).
Engine
Sailboats
Set to allow engine if needed, minimum speed to sail and engine cruising speed
Motorboats & Jetski / PWC
Set engine cruising speed and fuel efficiency
Units and Preferences
Customise how information is displayed in the app based on your preference or region:

Setting these preferences helps ensure Savvy Navvy delivers accurate and relevant results for your journey, whether you're passage planning, checking the tides, or navigating in real-time.
