How to Import GPX Files into Savvy Navvy
If you have waypoints or markers saved in another navigation app or chartplotter, you can import them into Savvy Navvy using a GPX file. This is a great way to bring in your favourite anchorages, routes, or fishing spots so you can use them directly in the app.
In this article you'll find:
⚠️ Routes in GPX files cannot be imported — only markers.
This is because Savvy Navvy’s Smart Routing is unique: it plans routes based on real-time wind, weather, tides, your boat’s specifications, and local regulations. No other navigation tool uses the same routing logic, so imported routes from other systems would not reflect the safe and optimised passage plans that Savvy Navvy provides. For your safety and accuracy, we recommend plotting routes directly within the app.
Supported File Type
Savvy Navvy supports .gpx files containing markers (waypoints).
How to Import a GPX File
- Open the Savvy Navvy App on your phone or tablet.
- Go to the Main Menu.
- Select Markers.
- Tap Import Markers.
- Choose the .gpx file you want to import from your device or cloud storage.
Where to Find Imported Markers
Once imported, your markers will appear on your Savvy Navvy chart. You can:
- Tap a marker to view its details.
- Edit marker names and icons.
- Delete any markers you no longer need.
💡 Tips for a Smooth Import
- Make sure your GPX file follows standard waypoint formatting to avoid errors.
- If you’re exporting from another app or device, double-check that you’re saving in GPX format.
How to Export GPX Files From Other Nav Tools
Navionics
Export: Go to Menu, and select Markers. Then choose 1 or more items, and share. You may either export a GPX file via email or your favorite messaging application — or share a link on social media. It’s your call.
C-Map
C-Map only supports point import; sadly, there is no export option.
Argo
GPX export is an Argo premium feature. Open a route or track to view the details, tap the three dot menu in the upper right corner and select Export as GPX File. Then select from multiple options how to export the file. If the file is not on your target device, transfer the file to your target device using cloud storage or a messaging app.
iNavX
Go to the Waypoints Screen, then Select “Import/Export” to transfer waypoints or routes to/from iNavX. If the file is not on your target device, transfer the file to your target device using cloud storage or a messaging app.
