How to Plan a Passage for a Future Trip

Good news! Passage planning is available on all Savvy Navvy plans. Want to explore more features? Learn more about Savvy Plan Pricing here.

Savvy Navvy lets you plan sailing trips in advance so you can choose the best departure time based on wind, weather, and tides.

There are two ways to do it:

  1. Use the Depart At feature
  2. Use the Departure Scheduler

How to Use the Depart Feature

Once you’ve plotted your route, you’ll see the Depart at option just under the search bar at the top of the screen.

  1. Tap Depart at
  2. Select the date and time you want to start your trip.
  3. Savvy Navvy will recalculate your route using forecasted conditions for that departure.

For a more detailed look at your options, use the Scheduler, located just to the right of Depart at under the search bar.

  1. Tap the Scheduler icon.
  2. You’ll see a series of time slots (in 30-minute intervals) showing:

Estimated passage time.

Time spent under sail vs. engine.

Colour coding for wind conditions.

Scroll up and down to compare departure options.

  1. Tap any time slot to replot your route with updated wind, weather, and tidal data.

The Scheduler makes it easy to pick a departure that minimises tide against you, maximises sailing time, or balances both.
