How to Plot a Smart Route

Good news! This feature is available on the Free plan in the US and Essentials plan in the rest of the world. Want to explore more features? Learn more about Savvy Plan Pricing here.

Just a few taps and you're planning your next adventure!

Whether you're new to Savvy Navvy or just need a quick refresher, plotting a route is fast, simple, and smart — the app handles all the heavy lifting like weather, tides, and boat settings in the background.

Step-by-Step: Plot Your Smart Route

1 - Open the Routes tab

Make sure you're in the Routes tab by tapping it in the bottom bar — that's where you can drop waypoints.

2 - Zoom to your starting point

Find your departure location on the chart. For example, zoom into Poole, UK, if that’s where you're starting from.

3 - Tap to drop your first waypoint

Tap once on your starting location. A waypoint marker will appear, and you’ll see its coordinates and expected depth in the bottom info panel.

4 - Add your destination and waypoints

Tap again on your destination — or anywhere along the way if you want to add additional waypoints. For example, drop a pin near the entrance to Weymouth Bay.

5 - Review the skeleton route

As you add waypoints, a preview route (dashed line) appears, helping you see how the route is shaping up. You can move waypoints or add midpoints at any time.

⚠️ This skeleton route doesn't yet take into account wind, weather, tides or your boat settings ⚠️

6 - Tap 'Plot Route'

Once you’re happy, hit the Plot Route button and let Savvy Navvy calculate your full route — factoring in wind, tide, and boat settings. You'll see detailed info for each leg in the bottom panel (just swipe up to expand it).

7 - You're Ready to Go!

With your route plotted, you can now preview it, export it, save it, or start navigating.
