Understanding the Savvy Chart™ Legend

The Savvy Chart™ is designed to help boaters and navigators better understand the marine environment with clear, intuitive chart symbols. Many of the icons used follow the international S-57 standard, but some have been adapted or simplified for clarity. Selecting a symbol in the Savvy Navvy app will bring up more details, such as the light sequence on a buoy or services available at a marina.

This guide outlines the different symbols, lines, and zones you may encounter on the Savvy Chart™.

Buoys

IALA Systems:

• IALA-A (rest of world): Port - Red | Starboard - Green
• IALA-B (Americas, Caribbean, Japan, Philippines, Korea): Port - Green | Starboard - Red
