Using the Departure Scheduler in Savvy Navvy
The Departure Scheduler helps you choose the best time to start your trip by showing how wind, tide, and weather will affect your route at different departure times. Whether you're looking to save fuel, avoid head tides, or maximise sailing time, the scheduler makes it easy to compare options at a glance.

How to Use the Departure Scheduler
- Plot your route in the Routes tab
- Open the route info panel
- Tap Departure Scheduler
Choosing a Departure Time
- Tap on a route bar to select and replot your route for that specific start time
- The app will update the chart and show a revised passage plan
- Use this tool to:
• Avoid strong tidal flows against you
• Choose the best wind window for sailing
• Reduce fuel consumption by minimising engine use
What the Departure Scheduler Shows
Once you've plotted a route, tap Departure Scheduler to access a timeline view that displays:
- Route duration for different departure times
- Color-coded wind strength
- Sailing vs. motoring segments
- Time spent against the tide
Each route bar represents a forecasted outcome for a departure time, shown in 30-minute intervals.
How to Read the Scheduler
- Blue line = Sailing
- Orange dashed line = Under engine
- Blue dotted line = Sailing against the tide
- Color gradient under each bar = Wind strength (see legend at the bottom)
You can scroll the list vertically to view more departure options, limited by the length of the available forecast (usually 4 days).
💡 Tip: Download forecasts ahead of time. The scheduler relies on weather and tidal data. To use it offline, be sure to download offline chart packs in advance.
